SANTE MARIE

Villa Sante Marie is a typical villa of the 17th century, but its current structure dates back to the period of the late 19th century. The furniture of the rooms, the living room and the kitchen remind of the simple atmospheres that are represented in the paintings of the “Macchiaioli” painters.

The villa is situated just outside the small village of Mercatale, which is at a walking distance of 10-15 minutes. In the village, there are different kinds of shops, a bank, and a pharmacy. San Casciano, a larger village, is at 4 km distance. Here, there are several good restaurants. Florence is at 15 km distance and Siena is at 50 km.

The small, unpaved road leading to the house offers incredible views over the hills that characterise this area: gentle slopes with vineyards and fields dotted with olive trees. In days with a clear view, it is possible to see the mountains of the Apennines.

The garden is furnished with chairs and tables and permits to dine outside. There is a parking place on the property. The beautiful swimming pool (6 x 13.5 m) is surrounded by majestic pine trees, offering refreshment and relax on hot summer days.

The house was recently restored in order to host those guests that wish to spend their holiday in the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside. The simple Tuscan furniture is combined with beautiful hand-made embroideries on blankets, napkins, and curtains, that the owners also sell in their shop in the village.

The semi-detached villa extends on two floor:
On the ground floor, there is a living room with fireplace and with an exit to the garden, a kitchen with an exit to the garden, a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
On the first floor, there are three double bedrooms and a bathroom with bathtub.
